This little book published by Lech Walesa Institute on 30th anniversary of the events that had led to establishing of the Independent Self-Governing Trade Union Solidarnosc is a historical document.

Most of this is the collection of essays printed in 1981 by the Editing Institute of Trade Unions for the Centre of Social Research at Solidarnosc of Mazowsze region as the book titled “Conflict and Solidarnosc”. (…)

Literature on Solidarnosc both in Polish and international sociology is so immensely rich that it is impossible to grasp it without special bibliographic guide. (…) Our essays are only modest contribution to such a task but it seemed proper to mark at least in such a way 30th anniversary of strikes, the August agreements and creation of Solidarnosc.
