When in August 1980 the Lenin Shipyard workers went on strike demanding restoring Anna Walentynowicz to her job, guaranteeing safety from repression for the strikers, and raising the pays, no one could expect the chains of events that came after, and eventually led to the collapse of the Soviet Union and the unification of Europe.

See the documentary "From Solidarno¶ć to Freedom" that depicts the story of this massive peaceful movement which altered the post-war order and brought about the democracy and freedom in Poland.
